Our History. The White Hart Hotel, owned by Southern Brewing Co. was one of Albany's first local breweries until it shut down in 1906. In 1909 the building was demolished for construction of a new two-story building. The White Star Hotel opened in 1910. The White Star Hotel's were aligned with the White Star line, one of the worlds largest shipping lines which included the famous 'Titanic'. Some of the White Stars ships that docked at the Albany jetty were the 'Medic' September 1912 and the 'Ceramic' August 1913. The 'Nomadic' is the only ship that still exists today. The White Star line in the mid 1930's which went on to build the queen Mary and QE11. In modern times, The White Star Hotel focuses on promoting local food, wine, live entertainment and the best service in town. We are also a fantastic functions venue.
